Ubisoft have just announced the latest entry into the new Assassin’s Creed franchise! Assassins Creed Valhalla.
Valhalla was long rumoured to be set during the Viking Age with titles like Ragnarok and Valhalla. As stated many times by Ubisoft, they would not be doing an Assassin’s Creed game based in Japan – trying to keep away from the association with ninjas.
In turn, this has led to speculation through the community about where the next game would be set. Through leaks and small teasers from the staff as well as Easter Eggs in other games such as The Division 2.
As of today (Around 12 pm), the official Assassin’s Creed Facebook and Twitter accounts changed their banners and logos. This prompted everyone (including myself) to assume something big was happening.
A few moments later -on Twitter- a link was posted to a Periscope account. This account was (and still is) creating concept art for the game. There is a slow build-up of suspense within the community as the image is slowly constructed. It has been over 6 hours now and the image is still not done. Updates to the stream will be posted below.
Past Assassin’s Creed games have taken us to some interesting time periods such as the Industrial Revolution in London and The French Revolution. The 2 most recent instalments took us way back to The Ptolemaic Period in Egypt and more recently the Peloponnesian War in Greece.
With the first Viking raid taking place at Holy Island of Lindisfarne (England) in 793AD, it will certainly be interesting to see when we will be placed throughout this period.
- By 8 pm the majority of the art was finished and all that was left was some final detail.
- At 8:53 pm ,the games Logo was revealed to the public.
- The stream concluded with a message to watch the premiere of the game Tomorrow April 30th at 8am PDT / 5 PM CEST (4PM GMT).
