What we’ve been up to:
Just a quick post summarising January 2020 at Side Mission Blog. During January we published a few posts including:
- A review of M.A.C.E Tower Defense on Nintendo Switch.
- An in-depth article looking into hardcore first-person shooter Escape From Tarkov and some of the controversies surrounding the game.
- A brief reflection on The Outer Worlds. Was it quite the Fallout successor we were hoping for?
- A review of the original Sniper: Ghost Warror on PC.
As I mentioned in the first post of the year – Blog Plans for 2020 – The current game on my backlog list I’m working on is Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS4. I knew it certainly wasn’t lacking in content, but I underestimated just how much there is to do and see. I restarted the game in the lead up to the Witcher Netflix show being released, and watching it totally got me back in the mood to play as Geralt again.
I’m now almost ready to sail to the Skellige Isles after exploring the city of Novigrad. I’m definitely progressing at a slower pace as I’m picking up tons of Witcher contracts, side quests and spending a good bit of time with the HUD switched off – which really improves the feeling of immersion in the world. Even on a standard PS4 the game still has incredible visuals.
My plan for February is to continue with Witcher 3, though I doubt I’ll get around to finishing the story in that time. Then I’ve got the Hearts of Stone / Blood and Wine DLC content to try out also!
10 Years On
Again, mentioned in the blog plans post was our new feature 10 Years On – where games that are now a decade old are revisited, looking at just how well they’ve held up in terms of gameplay.
Our most popular post of the month was on Instagram promoting the Escape From Tarkov post. If you’re also over there, follow the page for gaming content and screenshots!
